چکیده
Results There were no differences in mean values between Group A and Group B for: Age, BMI, LVEF, CPB time, Cross-clamp time, Number of anastomoses / patients. Group A and Group B were significantly different in terms of ventilation time ( 13,47+/-18,2 h vs 8,4+/-6,3h, p<0,001), bleeding within 12h (540,31+/-283,5 ml vs 392,25+/257,8ml, p<0,001), blood transfusion units (1,38+/-1,6 vs 0,6+/-1,4, p<0,001), and length of hospital stay ( 14,7+/-14,3 day vs 11,2+/-7, p<0,001).

Impact of Intact Pleura during Left Internal Mammary Artery Harvesting on Clinical Outcome
BACKGROUND Pleurotomy during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) may cause post-operative events, mostly pulmonary complications. In this study, we evaluated the influence of pleurotomy during CABG on the clinical outcome following left internal mammary artery (LIMA) harvesting. METHODS Between March and August 2009, 102 patients who underwent cardiac surgery were enrolled in this study an...

We were interested in the study published by Dr. Alizadeh Ghavidel et al.,1 whom we congratulate on their publication. There are some points, however, which we wish to make regarding the aim and results of their study. The left internal mammary artery (LIMA) is mostly used as the conduit of choice for myocardial revascularization. The LIMA confers superior graft patency and better longterm surv...
متن کاملEffect of LIMA Harvesting Technique on Postoperative Drainage in Off-Pump CABG
OBJECTIVE We investigated the effects of pedicled and semiskeletonized left internal mammary artery (LIMA) harvesting techniques on postoperative drainage in patients subjected to off-pump CABG, ignoring other advantages or disadvantages of those techniques. METHODS The present study comprises a total of 160 subjects that underwent coronary artery bypass surgery in our clinic. Data were colle...
متن کاملEffects of Seasonal Variations on the Outcome of Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
Background: For all the reports on the association between seasons and coronary artery disease, there is a paucity of information on the possible effects of seasonal variations on the outcome of patients after coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG). The aim of this study was to assess the short-term outcome of post-CABG patients in the four different seasons to find any correlation betw...

We read with interest the paper entitled “Respiratory dysfunction after coronary artery bypass grafting employing bilateral internal mammary arteries: the influence of intact pleura” by Bonacchi and colleagues, published in Ref. [1]. We would like to thank the authors for addressing, as in previously published papers [2,3], such interesting issues related to internal thoracic artery (ITA) harve...
